I love photography. I love photographers. I love Las Vegas. So it was pretty much a no-brainer to decide I was going again this year. My friend Lesley (aka “Roomie” – www.lesleybryce.com) and I have gone twice before. The first trip was in 2010, and I brought teeny weeny 5 week old baby Hudson with me to all the classes and the trade show, and he was a good baby. He made me feel secure and important. I don’t know how babies do that, but they do. I wish I could strap a newborn to my chest all the time.
We also went to WPPI last year, and it was awesome again. This year, Roomie couldn’t make it, so I went with my photographer friend Toki Lee (www.tokileephoto.com) and my friend Julie Parker (www.julieparkerphotography.com) and let me tell ya – there is nothing so inspirational as going to a huge convention with people you respect and admire and creating and thinking together. There’s a buzz surrounding MGM at WPPI every year that is almost tangible.
I met so many amazing, incredible, talented professionals from all over the world, including Sue Bryce, Lori Nordstrom, Lindsay Adler, Dane Sanders, Kelly Brown and many more! We partied, we learned, we bonded.
The trade show was awesome, too. I switched labs to one I like better (Pro dpi), I switched credit card merchants, I bought a continuous lighting system for my newborn work. I bought a lens baby, which is this nifty little lens that creates awesome blurring effect. And last but not least, a whole bunch of newborn hats and props, mostly for boys because I already have so many pieces for baby girls. Now my collections are equal in substance and adorableness.
